LETTER: Hurricane Ike Economic Stimulus For Liberty and Chambers County Elected Officials

Dear Liberty Dispatch,

As the investigation into the actions of both Liberty and Chambers County elected officials continues we see that without a doubt both County Judge's and possibly other elected officials clearly took advantage of their fiduciary positions by handing out the post hurricane cleaning contracts to their friends, relatives and political supporters. This is a very bad outcome for the very people these men were elected to serve. Their actions should lead FEMA officials to look into the way their money is distributed after disasters. If these men and others are eventually indicted, prosecutors should take into consideration the fact these men put their own selfish greed above the interests of the people they were sworn to serve.

The arrogant excuse they were just trying to keep the work local will not stand. It is an absolute shame that the privileged few profited from this storm while many still suffer with their housing needs and economic losses.

Taxpayers and voters should demand justice in this matter. We realize that everyone is innocent until proven guilty but the public deserves to know the truth about what happened.

If you have any information that will help in the investigation of these officials please contact the FBI, the Texas Attorney General's office, Liberty Dispatch, HCN and/or Wayne Dolcefino.

I voted for Fitzgerald he has been a great disappointment as has Jimmy Silvia. It appears what Silvia has done pales in comparison to anything Fitzgerald did.

I think investigators should stand on Jimmy Silvia's neck and leave Fitz alone.

Someone I know at the gator festival said Jimmy Silvia was overheard while he was drinking and laughing as he said how "No one could ever catch me, like they did Fitzgerald"

Hey boys!!! You can run but you can not hide because Wayne Dolcefino is hot, I mean hot on your trail.

The were trying to keep the work local, among themselves.
If you check you will see that Cecil Parker
was not a paid Chambers County employee but
was in charge of coordinating cleanup. He was appointed by his good buddy Jimmy no doubt. Did Parker do this for free? No, they had a monopoly on contracts for county cleanup.
There were contractors like Jannise that said he could save the county a lot of money but was told he couldn't get a contract but could work for Parker.
Jannise and others have filed a law suit for
said actions.
Parker did not have a company name, bonding
nor insurance that I could find nor did Tommy Henry but they did scoop up as much of the work that they wanted.
D.D. Leggett and others like him already had there own equipmentand my have been fulfilling
contracts in a proper manner.
Those that did obtain contracts propably had to kick back some of the profits they were making and that wouldn't surprise me at all.
I do know that Parker surly did become an over night big shot and was now hanging out with the big boys. He had his 15 minutes of fame and now its time to pay the piper.
You don't do the things they did without stepping on toes and as history has shown
someone will either come forward because they were dealt a bad hand or someone will get nervous and spill the beans hoping for leniency from prosecution.
I hope that the Attorney General will start a audit soon. Once this happens all the parts of the puzzle will fall into place.
God help them all because He's the only one that would!

One word sums this whole thing up- KICKBACKS!

I think Jimmy Silvia did a great job. Could it be you all are jealous?

Cecil, you know you done f%#@$d up now don't you. Had your arm too deep in the cookie jar again. I remember when we used to play dominoes and you saw me as your equal. Yesterday a the course & during poker you acted as if You forgot who you are and where you came from. Maybe that will make it easier when you make your move to a cell. We were true friends, but you made the choice to cut me out. Now that they have agreed to testify, you dont have a chance. May want to jump ship before it's too late. Tick tock, it is ticking See you in court in 2010.

Poster above that said county judge did a great job is an idiot to put it mildly. I mean a stupid freaking idiot. Must be somebody that got a FEMA contract.

Liberty County beware. We kept voting for Jimmy Sylvia after he switched to the Republican party. You should seriously consider beating opportunist in the primary when you can. Now ALL that Sylvia does could be blamed on Republicans even though he was, and always will be, a Democrat in the way he governs.

Who ever praised Jimmy above must have recieved some kick-backs from him.

Ever heard of a bald headed liar FEMA? Check it out in Chambers County ..... Liberty County has one with a full head of hair.

People are lining up to run against those corrupt lamer ducks, running against Fitzgerald, Little, Hight and Silvia will be like the proverbial shooting fish in a barrel. These schmucks got to go for Liberty and Chambers Counties to grow.

Liberty Dispatch, you must be very frustrated. You have spent several years and thousands of dollars warning about some of these types of things that we now all see have been going on. The most frustrating part is some of the voters who believe there is corruption and selfish profiteering going on among our elected officials will head for the polls and vote for these pitiful excuses for a public servant again. They will do it because they consider some of these people friends and assume therefore that it is the "other" public officials that are corrupt. The extent of most of their friendship is that the particular public official they are enamored with will say hello to them or stop and exchange some small talk. This lack of discernment by some voters just might be enough to return some of these people to office one more time. Some people do not intend to adopt a "as long as they treat me well to heck with the rest of you", but effectively they do. When you ignore the fact these men are using their office to stuff their pockets or mistreat others because you have a connection with the "judge" then you are harming this community and your neighbors. Bear with us Liberty Dispatch, we may have not always been your fans, but things are coming into clearer focus. Your roolled up sleeves and rolled up fists should not be mistaken for some kind of crazed bully, but someone who has come to break the power of abusive bullying that was heretofore invincible. Thanks. It must be frustrating.

If you look at some of these public officials closer it is amazing they are allowed to stay in office and judge anyone. Take Rusty Hight for instance. Isn't it true, public records show that as a lawyer he altered official documents in an attempt to take a child away from their mother. Wasn't he reprimanded and the whole thing downplayed so he could stay a viable future candidate to one day replace his brither-in-law Zeke Zbranek? How can someone like that sit in judgement over the rest of us!

Anonymous said...

Hight is very corrupt, Akins had to file a Mandamus with the 9th Circuit Appeals to get a fair shake. Hight has opened Lester Ray Wisgerber up to a big fat lawsuit. That will end up teaching them both a good lesson. Shame Hight has has opened the door for the Wisegerbers to spend their last years in court.

What an idiot!

If any of these people get away with what they have done it will be a shame.Shame on them.
But if just one of you give your vote to any of those involved and we will all soon know who involved then shame on you.You will deserve what you get.

They did an excellent job of keeping the work local as well as keeping it in the family, so to speak I'm a local, born and raised, who happens to own my own heavy equipment, have for years but when I inquired about a contract to employ my services in the cleanup efforts I was given the cold shoulder and told that the need was not that great. In the same conversation Cecil Parker told me that he himself had 10 dozer/track hoe pairs working at that time. TEN!
I would like for someone with knowledge of the youth project show, more specifically the livestock sale to tell me exactly how much money Jimmy spent purchasing animals this past year. You see, I was at the sale and was not so much amazed at how drunk that most of our so called prominent officials and well to do citizens were getting, at the county's expense and in public while our kids watched none the less. Come to think of it, was there a designated driver on duty that night? No, I was more amazed at the amount of cash that Jimmy was spending purchasing animals. I thought to myself, if its county money he's spending (tax payer money) then he should be spending it equally among all of the tax payers kids who participated and not just on his "good friends kids". I knew it wasn't his own money he was blowing because I have more money than he's ever had and although I love to support the kids in education, I have a sensible limit. Now I think I know where the money came from. I'm glad he didn't purchase an animal of mine, I would feel compelled to give the money back to FEMA!

Amazing, and this has been going on for years. Now is the time to make the calls and share our history with the officials. They need to hear from everyone that has any knowledge of any county office who has misused tax payer money, and the duties of their office. EVERYONE

I'm so glad to see people start to take an intrest in what's going on with our county.
I am hearing more and more not just from this blog but from people I talk to on the street
or on the phone. Still I wonder what it is we have to do to get Austin to take a look at what is going on here. Why do the wheels turn so slowly? Is this what we pay for? Is this our justice? I know as well as many of you do that something needs to be done.If I did something wrong being a small nobody just like most of us I would have to pay now.
So why not open the books for all to see if they are innocent. These are the very books we have the right to see as tax payers.
Aren't we all just getting a little sick of those who are above it all?
Look at what is happening to our economy
because of those we vote into office.
When is enough, enough....

where's everybody been? this corrupt "good ole boy"system has been here for awhile,it's just gotten progressively worse. the poor kids go to jail to support the county and the rich kids go home cause their daddies support the county officials.

Anonymous said...

i wonder if our officials and their cohorts are in church this morn praying for forgiveness or praying like hell they dont get caught.we better pray they never find our who we are or we wont be able to go to church without getting a ticket for which we will probably do time.

Anonymous said...

Yes its about time "the good ole boy" is in the spot light! Jimmy, before county judge worked in the oilfield. I worked with a guy that worked with him and said he has always had "sticky hands", with oil field valves to instrumentation. Its great that the FBI is involved, they don't care who or what is involved, justice will be served.

i guess they cooked the books and now theyre trying to put a lid on it.

The folks of Oak Island are wondering if that Cerrone woman is going to get a free house out of the hurricane relief money. She bought a house down here a couple years ago but never lived in it.She lives in a County owned home for free already! Her office is handling the Neil Dimond houses so we are all thinking she probably reserved one for herself. She never had no money to fix that house up good enough to move in before the storm.Lets all watch and see what she does now.Shes one thats had her hands in the Gatorfest cookie jar for years.Folks have quit that committee because of her and her ways. They dont want to be put in the same group with her.The gatorfest aint what it used to be with her in charge. If anybody needs to go,its her.Keep an eye on her property and see what goes on.

i hope this knocks the legs out from under all those smug snobs.

Anonymous said...

i see there is a list of liberty businesses to boycott. why isnt wilcox drug under chambers co?

Anonymous said...

Why is it that Healther H got to walk around the Gatorfest w/ a beer OUTSIDE the beer garden? Not a good influence for all us CC residents to see much less the children who were around, particularly in the gator area. So, some follow rules while others are outside them. Not good.
